Why Pray?
Prayer is simply the medium through which we communicate and commune with God. The practice of prayer is learning to set aside dedicated time to intentionally be with God, in order to become like Him and partner with Him in the world.
Prayer is mentioned more than 500 times in Scripture. Throughout the life of Jesus, we see Jesus in prayer with our heavenly Father. Prayer was the foundation of his life here on Earth. If prayer was integral to him, how much more must it be integral for us?
Why Fast?
Fasting is going without food for a set amount of time to awaken our body and soul to our deep hunger and need for God. Fasting is one of the most essential and powerful practices of Jesus, allowing us to integrate our entire person, including our body, around God.
The ultimate aim of fasting is to get in touch with our hunger for God. Hunger is the state of wanting or needing something you do not have. When we fast, we awaken our body and soul to its deep yearning for life with the Father.

Types of Fasts 〰️
-
This type of fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. One example of a selective fast is the Daniel Fast, during which you remove meat, sweets, and bread from your diet and consume water and juice for fluids and fruits and vegetables for food.
-
This fast is sometimes called the “Jewish Fast” and involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, or from sunup to sundown.
-
In this type of fast, you drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option.
-
Description This fast is a great option if you do not have much experience fasting food, have health issues that prevent you from fasting food, or if you wish to refocus certain areas of your life that are out of balance.
For example, you might choose to stop using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast and then carefully bring that element back into your life in healthy doses at the conclusion of the fast.
